Numerous city streets accessing highway 12 and 508 required reconstruction in downtown Morton. A detailed traffic safety plan was drafted and implemented. Existing asphalt streets were ground in place providing temporary access to businesses in the downtown. Soft, uncompact, native soils beneath heavily traveled roadways required excavation and export. Failing storm water systems were replaced while structural roadway ballast was imported, placed, and compacted. Freshly poured concrete curbs, handicap ramps, and sidewalks provided vehicle and pedestrian access to the newly paved streets.
